How an Evangelical Wedding Ceremony Works: A Step-by-Step Guide

What is the order of an evangelical wedding ceremony?

The most common order is: pastor and groom entrance, wedding party entrance, flower girls and page boys entrance, bride entrance, worship music, message, vows, rings, prayer, and blessing, ending with the newlyweds' exit. Each church may have variations, so the order of service is always finalized with the pastor.

1. Groom and wedding party entrance

The groom usually enters accompanied by his mother. Then, the wedding party couples enter in pairs, to the music chosen with the worship team.

2. Bride entrance

This is the most anticipated moment. The bride enters with her father or whoever she chooses, and the congregation stands.

3. Worship music and message

One or two worship songs prepare everyone's hearts, and the pastor brings a word about Christian marriage.

4. Vows, rings, and prayer

The couple makes their vows, exchanges rings, and the pastor prays for the new family, asking for God's blessing.

5. Newlyweds' exit

The couple is presented as husband and wife and exits to applause, followed by the wedding party.

How long does it last?

On average, from 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the number of worship songs and the length of the message.
